I: Today is May 18th 2022. We are at Chloe Thompson's home at 132 Larkin Lane. My name is Ramona Porter and I am interviewing Chloe Thompson about her life in Kaysville and surrounding areas and anything else that she wants to share with us.

I: If you would just tell me about your background. What's your full name and date of birth.

CJRT:  My full name is Chloe Jean Rice Thompson.

I was born in South Farmington, Utah December 8th 1937. My parents were LeGrand Rice and Mabel Barlow Rice. I'm the fourth of five children that were born in a little rock house in South Farmington.

I: What are your earliest memories of that place?

CHRT: I love my memories of where I was born because it was on a farm that belonged to my grandfather. I remember very well being in that little rock house and being on the farm. I was a tomboy so I was always out with the horses and wherever I could run out of there I would go over to the barn. I spent so much time with my grandparents and with my father on the farm all the time. It was an incredible experience to be there. I loved all of it. So, I learned a lot about, I guess, pioneers because I lived in a pioneer home. It was a pioneer home... and then the barn and all of that was all where I was born and where they were born. So, I actually was born where all of my ancestors came to on the Rice side. And where I went to church the same was all of those that built that church and so that's where my early life started in Farmington.

I: Could you tell us the names of your siblings?

CHRT: My oldest sister's name was Denise, and she was married there and then she went on to other things later in life. She went to school at Davis like the rest of us did. My next brother was Robert LeGrand Rice and his name was Bob and he lived there and was raised there and went to school there.
